QNUK Level 3 Certificate For Close Protection Operatives In The Private Security Industry (RQF)

Over the course of 18 days this Level 3 Course for Close Protection Officers gives you the qualification to work within the industry in the UK through classroom learning and realistic outdoor scenarios, however in reality offers so much more.

This course is aimed at ex-Armed Force, Door Supervisors and Security Officers, as well as civilians wishing to enter the industry at the highest level.

This course will run from 9am until 5pm each day between the dates of

11th November 2024 until 29th November 2024

If you are booking onto our FREC 3 course this will run from 1st November until 5th November from 9am until 5:30pm.

Both courses will be held at Sighthill Bowling Club, Sighthill Loan, Edinburgh, EH11 4NT

Course Overview

The course has been specifically developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and meets the criteria for those who wish to apply for an SIA license to work as a Close Protection Operative.

Areas covered include:

-Principles of Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry (PSI)
– Working as a Close Protection Operative in the PSI
– Application of Conflict Management in the PSI
– Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor for Close Protection Operatives in the PSI
– Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the PSI
– Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the PSI
– Application of Physical Intervention Skills for CPOs in the PSI.

Learners will also need to hold a minimum of a First Aid at Work (3 day) qualification which has no less than 12 months validity prior to the start date of their Close Protection course. Pre-hospital qualifications are not necessary but are encouraged. All certificates must be provided to the training provider as evidence supporting the pre-requisite requirements of this qualification.

As a guide, learners should as a minimum have language skills equivalent to the following:

  • a B1 level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications
  • an ESOL qualification at (Level 1) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland
  • an ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in English
  • SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 5
  • Essential Skills Wales Communication Level 1.
